Parks and Gardens
These are the main city parks and gardens in Dublin city.
- Merrion Square Located in central Dublin, Merrion Square is the city's most impressive plaza and is Georgian in design. A further garden, that of Leinster House, also looks over Merrion Square.
- St. Stephen's Green Located in central Dublin just off Grafton Street, this is a relaxing oasis in the middle of one of Dublin's busiest districts.
- Garden of Remembrance Located in central Dublin on Parnell Square East, this is a smal park and remembrance area.
- Iveagh Gardens Located in central Dublin on Clonmel Street, these attractive gardens have fountains, woodlands, a maze and a grott. They date fromthe late nineteenth century.
- National Botanic Gardens Located in northern Dublin in Glasnevin, these are pretty gardens and they occupy almost 20 acres.
- War Memorial Gardens Located in northern Dublin (Islandbridge) on Colbert Road, these are First World War memorial gardens.
- Marlay Park Located in southern Dublin (Rathfarnham), this is a large 300 acre park and garden.
- The Dillon Garden Located in southern Dublin off Sandford Road, this garden is privately owned and has limited opening hours and is closed over winter.
