Dublin Weekend Break
Trains to Dublin
Dublin has a main line rail service (called Iarnrod Eireann) running to and from most of the main cities in Ireland. It may be necessary to travel to a rail station by bus if you are staying in a small Irish town.
The Iarnrod Eireann is fairly punctual and offers a good, but comparatively sparse service across Ireland. The trains are always clean and fairly punctual.
If possible, avoid using the Iarnrod Eireann at peak rush hour times in the early morning or late afternoon. Doing so may result in you having to stand for a substantial part of your journey. The service out of Dublin will also be busy with holiday commuters on Saturdays and Sundays.
